Paul Runs
Destroy Achilles Tendonitis

I ran 25 miles total today on two runs. I had minimal problems with my achilles injury. It flared up on the first run but I had a friend give me some stretching advice after the run. I ended up running another 12 afterward and had a flare up at around mile 6. It’s getting hard to battle this injury. I should give it some rest but I am so close to the race so it makes it hard. If I focus on my form and my footstrike, everything is cool.

So the advice that I received seemed a bit counter productive. Rolling out the knots in the tendon seemed a little destructive but I have done everything that I can to try to help the injury. Why not give this a shot? When a 6:30 pace runner recommends something, then I should probably give it a shot. Amazingly enough the soreness is gone. The range of motion feels good and the stiffness has minimized. I am looking forward to my next run but will continue to follow the plan.

I have a feeling that I can beat this injury but want to avoid anymore in the next 21 days for the L.A. Marathon. I’m sure we’ll chat before then.
